Nothing yet

Needless to say, nothin yet. I had several does due over the weekend but nothing. Nothing! Not a single baby. They all had me fooled. Even if I would have gotten a litter of stillborns, I still would have blogged about it. I'm bummed because I was really looking forward to my litters being born. I'm going to rebreed and I hope I'll have better luck on round two.

Not sure what's going on with my does not being pregnant. I'm sure it's just the bucks though. What are the chances that it would be the does' fault out of 7 does that were bred? And I only had 9 does bred. And yet I ask myself.... can it get any worse?? Sadly, yes it can but not by much. I'm still waiting on Aquene and Sunkist to kindle which should be the very first of October. Hopefully it will get better not worse and I'll end up with a few kits.... hopefully. :)

With that being said, I'm now on the hunt for a new sable point buck. So far, Absolute hasn't shown me any signs of being proven. I'm not going to sell him just yet because there still might be a good possibility that he can have babies. I want to be looking just to be on the safe side though. The buck must be show quality and I'm interested in mostly juniors. If you know anyone who has a nice show quality sable point buck for sale, let me know!

Tempest hasn't shown any signs of being proven either. But I'm not ready to replace him yet.

That's all for now.

PS: I'm doing a few minor adjustments to the website, so if you want more updates, just email me or keep checking the blog. ;)

Greensboro show

Overall, the Greensboro show was just okay. I probably wouldn't go again unless I have several bunnies to show at one time. Which usually doesn't happen unless they're juniors or bucks - everyone else is usually bred. :)

I am seriously considering buying some rabbits from the Convention in November. I'm talking about between 5-7 rabbits at a time, so I'll need to do a little culling. Of course, I can't be there to pick them up myself because it's waaay too far away so I'll have to pay for transportation, too.

That was just a little update - I don't have much more to blog about. I have some litters due at the end of this week so I'll probably blog again when they kindle.

Finally starting to feel like fall

Now that it's September, it's finally cooling down. Well somewhat anyways. Last time I blogged, it was cool in the morning and since then it got a little hotter but it was still bearable. It's supposed to cool off some more within the next few days. Yay! I like the mild temperatures - not too hot, not too cold. It's terrible in the winter with all of the frozen water bottles though. I guess I shouldn't complain because our winters are much warmer than the winters up north. It's still cold though. :(

I am just beside myself with anticipation. I can't wait until the Greensboro show and until my upcoming litters arrive! Between the two of them, I'm not sure which one I'm more excited for. Probably my litters though. I always get eager for those. :) But who doesn't? I love peeking in the nestboxes when I get up in the morning. Then the next stage: hopping out of the box. That's just too cute! They fall out of the nestbox and their little feet fall through the cage. The funny part is they simply can't figure out how to get back in the box! Shortly after, I can start to sex them. That's another good part, too. That's also when the elimation process begins. I usually keep back the good bucks and does and typically sell the BUDs or BUBs.

I've figured out a plan.... I'm going to show all of my jr orange bucks at the moment and the one/ones that don't place well, I'll be selling them. So if you run into me at the Greensboro show, don't hesitate to ask if any are for sale. I'm going to try to sell as many as possible since I don't have enough cage space to bring home the 2 does that I'm getting. I'm buying a sable point junior doe and an orange junior doe. I'm so excited I can hardly wait! :o)

That's it for now. We're going on vacation this weekend so it might be a few days before I blog again.

September...

Wow, September already. Where did the time go? Hurricane Earl didn't bring us anything. Had a little breeze earlier today; it felt really good for the bunnies. In the mornings, it's indescribable.... it actually feels like fall. The buns do all kinds of binkies and tricks! It's so cute. I certainly would too if I were a bunny. :) Of course, by afternoon it's the same old -- hot and humid.

I bred Aquene and Sunkist the other day. I'm super excited to see what all of my upcoming litters produce. ;) I'm still deciding about which route to take with the bunnies. I'm set on going with oranges and sable points but in order to expand in sable points, I will need to cull some. I was debating on selling the BEWs, but I really like them so I'm not sure what to think at this point ....

I'll be taking more pictures of the new buns and the buns for sale hopefully by this weekend. Until then... have a good weekend and Labor Day!
