Time Flies

Boy, how time flies... it has been almost a month since my last blog. As you know, A LOT has happened since then, and I have come to the heartbreaking decision to sell all of my precious little bunnies. I have sold several rabbits so far and I'm now down to about 40 bunnies which is nearly half of what I used to have! I have lots of nice brood/show quality still for sale though, so please don't hesitate to email me. I will give discounts on multiple purchases, and transportation can be arranged to the Indy Convention for a $25 per rabbit fee. Thank you all for your support! May God bless you!

New Website Template

So I thought I'd give the website a new look. It wasn't intentional until I started playing around with Weebly. It took me a little over 3 hours to complete it the way I wanted it lol Enjoy!

In my opinion, Weebly is so much better than Webs. For whatever reason, Webs stopped letting me upload pictures. I tried and tried to fix it, but nothing. So I made the switch to Weebly. When you compare, they're about the same, but because of the Webs incident, I now like Weebly better. :)

Anyways, I just thought I'd post a short blog before August slipped away from me...

Mixed Emotions

I'm having mixed emotions about selling my rabbits. Over the past few months, moving is a frequent topic for my family. So it's hard to tell if they're "just talking" or not. I think I've mentioned this before, but when we move, I'll have to sell my rabbits... I have no choice. I hate thinking about it, but I know the day will come sooner or later. Which is why I'm trying to downsize to prepare for the worst. If I can keep my numbers down, it will help me if I have to sell them in the end. Selling all of my rabbits seems so unimaginable, but I will have to sell them when we move. With that being said, I won't be buying the awesome buck and doe I talked about a few posts ago. It breaks my heart because I wanted them SO bad! But, like I said, I need to down to keep my numbers down to prepare for the worst, because I'm sure the time will be coming soon...

Until next time, keep cool.

Additions to the For Sale page

I've been blogging a lot to make up for June... haha!

I have added several more rabbits to the For Sale page. Check 'em out! A few orange and sable point does were added as well. You know me - that never happens! I usually keep most of my does and if they are a color that I'm working with, they fall into the "why not keep them" category. :) But not this time. I'm trying to move on and cull some of the juniors and seniors to replace them with their better kits or siblings (if that makes any sense!).

I'm really looking forward to breeding again this fall. I have several does that are at breeding age and I'm really anxious to see what they produce. I'm especially excited to see what Tiki produces for me. When I first got Tiki, I was fortunate enough to breed him (just once) before it got too hot. Hopefully, if I get lucky I can start breeding again at the end of August.... keeping my fingers crossed!

Well, I guess that's everything for now. I just wanted to make a quick update to notify everyone about the new additions to the For Sale page. ;)

Rambling Thoughts...

What to do, what to do. I have had bad cases of the 'wants' lately and I can't seem to get rid of them. So, I'm going to blog about it since people always say it's best to write down your thoughts.

I really, really want this amazing buck. The seller also has his daughter for sale. So you probably think, "Go for it, what's the problem?" The problem is that they are very expensive, about 6 1/2 hours away, and I'm pushing the limit with cages. That's something to worry about. Both the buck and the doe are varieties that I don't work with, but I could squeeze them in with my brokens which is what I plan to do. I'm thinking very seriously about the both of them and also considering a shaded buck that she has available.

If I wanted to purchase the trio, that obviously means that I would have to make room for them. I counted all of the rabbits that I sold in the past 2-3 weeks, and I sold a total of 16 rabbits. Thank you to everyone who purchased a bunny from me! You have helped me out tremendously! But with all the juniors I have, sadly, the extra cages are already gone... So if you are interested in any of my rabbits (even ones that aren't on the For Sale) please don't hesitate to ask, because I will consider all offers and give discounts on multiple purchases. :)

Speaking of available rabbits, I posted Heartfelt Cameron on the For Sale page yesterday. I don't really want to sell this doe, but I figured I should since I'm trying to focus on solid oranges rather than broken oranges. Cameron is a very nice little doe. She has a good head and tiny ears. Her body has a nice shape to it but she has a low shoulder. Cameron is a proven brood doe and usually has 2-3 kits in each litter. If you are interested in her, please contact me for more information.

Keep cool until the next blog!

Hot vs. Cold

Wow! Is it ever hot outside! Since it's so hot, I've decided to have a discussion about hot and cold weather.

Hot vs. Cold - What's your pick? Living in the south, I don't have a favorite, because it goes to the extreme. It's typically around 100 degrees daily in the summer and the hot, humid heat usually lasts from May thru September. On really hot summers, we'll start getting heat waves in April.

As for winter, we rednecks are used to the warm temperatures, so when the cold comes around, we're about to freeze to death! It's obviously not as cold in the south as compared to up north (I'm SO glad) but it still gets pretty chilly down here - believe it or not. This past winter, we had temperatures that never reached 32 degrees in the afternoon. (I remember this because we had frozen water bottles 24/7) Burrr!

To sum up today's topic, my favorite seasons are spring and fall - not too hot, not too cold. Here in South Carolina, our spring and falls are in the 60's and 70's (sometimes 80's) which is beautiful weather! :)

Anyway, stay cool until next time....

New Looks

I'm sure you have already noticed the blog if you are reading this. I hope you like it! I think it's pretty neat for a change. I was getting bored with the old design.... maybe this will motivate me to blog more often! lol

I've added a few senior brood does to the For Sale page, so check em' out! I also have several juniors still available waiting to go to good homes. ;)

Other than that, nothing much is going on right now. It's feels awesome outside though! It felt like fall! It's hard to believe that it is July and is was 69 degrees yesterday! We finally got a break out of all this hot, humid air. The past few days were so cool that I didn't even have to turn on the fans in the barn! It's amazing! Unfortunately, it's supposed to warm back up to the high nineties as the week goes on. At least we got to enjoy it while it last...

That's everything for now. Hope you had a nice, cool weekend!

Back in the Saddle Again

I figured the song 'Back in the Saddle Again' by Aerosmith was a good title for this blog since I haven't blogged in almost a whole month! I hope everyone is doing well and having a great 4th of July with their family. We're probably going to have our family over this afternoon for a cookout then watch some fireworks.

Anyway, nothing new is going on with the bunnies. I've been selling quite a few which is a good thing. Let me tell you why.... when I decided to have a herd reduction, I counted all of my rabbits (bucks, does, juniors, kits - you name it) and I came to a conclusion with a grand total of NINETY-FIVE (yes, 95) rabbits! Okay, it's time for a little downsize, don't you think? So I came to yet another conclusion to have a herd reduction.

Thank you to everyone who has purchased a precious bunny from me; you don't know how much it has helped me! May God bless you!

That's everything for now. Hopefully I'll have a few more blogs before August! Haha!
Happy 4th of July!

For Sale Updates

I've added some updates to the For Sale page. I figured I should since a list just didn't cut it for me. So, now there's a totally new layout than before.

What's new in the nestbox? A lot! For starters, all of Spike's babies are does. The kits out of Broken Dreams and Silver Sand are all does. I'm going to sell them all, though, since I just don't have room to keep them.

Caramel has a broken black buck, a blue doe, and a blue otter doe. Horray! I'm completely thrilled! I'm going to keep Chanelle (blue doe) and Jenelle (blue otter doe) since that's all I can keep. The broken black buck (un-named) will be available since I still have his sire, Tiki, and don't need him, too. This buck should turn out to be just like Tiki as he is very nice so far.

Anyway, check out the For Sale page and make offers. :)

SUMMER HERD REDUCTION

I've decided (well, my rabbits actually decided for me that they need their own cages) to have a "Summer Herd Reduction". I always say I need cage space and I'm getting tired of saying it. It sounds so nice to have the extra room if and when you need it. With that begin said, I have listed about 18 juniors and seniors on my For Sale page. Feel free to take a look! I only made a list, because it would have been a lot of work to include pictures and information on each rabbit. However, don't hesitate to ask for more detailed information about a specific rabbit (pictures, pedigree, reproductive ability, etc.) I have a lot available that I need to sell, so I'll consider all offers and give package deals on purchases of 2 or more rabbits. Thanks!

I Made It

I just realized this... titles should always be capitalized, right? Well, why not capitalize titles to blogs? They're still titles, right? I usually don't bother capitalizing them, but I'm going to start.

Now you're probably wondering about the title. I chose this title because today was the last day of school. I made it through another year!

Anyway, I have lots of litters so let's move on. These litters can also be seen on the Nestbox page.

Mikey x Dancer ~ 4 kits (5/7/11) - 2 REWs, 2 seals
Spike x Silver Sand ~ 4 kits (5/8/11) - 1 broken chestnut, 1 broken chinchilla, 1 opal, and 1 chestnut
Spike x Broken Dreams ~ 2 kits (5/13/11) - 1 broken chinchilla, 1 broken blue(?)
Tiki x Caramel ~ 3 kits (5/20/11) - 1 broken black, 2 blue otters
Tango x Mango ~ 5 kits (5/21/1) - 5 oranges
Tango x Cameron ~ 3 kits (5/21/11) - 3 oranges
Bondo (Black Tort) x Melody ~ 1 kit (5/25/11) - 1 tort(?)
Fireball x Sunsation ~ 5 kits (5/25/11) - 5 oranges

There's a mistake on my Nestbox page... In Broken Dream's litter, she has a broken chinchilla and the other may be a broken blue. However, on my website, it says a broken chestnut.

Other than that, nothing more has been going on. Until next time, God bless.

Columbia show

To be completely honest, I haven't thought about blogging lately. Things have been really busy around here and the week goes by too fast.

So how'd I do at Columbia? I think I might have gotten a leg in Show A with Tiki. He could have gotten Show B, but the judge noticed the little nip on his ear. :( I was pretty bummed because it had just happened. Overall, I didn't expect to win anything... I just wanted to get an opinion on my junior torts. I got a "looks promising" in Show A on Drake. The pictures on my website make them look better than what they look like now. Ha! It's okay though - they're at the ugly awkward stage so what can you do?

As far as recent litters, I'm waaaaay behind! I'm not going to take the time to write a paragraph about each litter; I'll just cut to the chase. ;)

Mikey x Dancer ~ 4 kits - Two are REW and 2 are either sable point martens or smoke pearl martens. The REWs will definitely be for sale. However, the other 2 kits will need to be evaluated.

Spike x Silver Sand ~ 4 kits - Wow. Just wow. Silver Sand actually had 6 kits in her first litter, but sadly 2 didn't make it. SS has 1 broken chesnut, 1 broken chinchilla, 1 chestnut, and 1 opal. I think I'm going to sell the whole litter though.

Spike x Broken Dreams ~ 2 kits - For some reason, I can't remember what BD has! I checked all of the babies last night and it was a looong day at the show. I can't believe I don't remember! One I think is a broken... well heck, both might be broken! I really don't know. It's bugging me now; I have to go check.

Tiki x Caramel ~ 3 kits - I'm pretty nervous... I just sold Caramel today and fostered her babies out. I should have made a better plan, because the litter I fostered to is Broken Dreams and her babies are about a week old. All I can do now is hope & pray. They should be a lovely bunch. Two of the kits look like blue otters (!) and the other one looks like a broken chestnut (maybe).

Mango also had a litter, but I feel awful that I didn't have time to check them because of the busy day at the show! Until then, God bless.

Possible Reduction

Sorry I haven't gotten around to posting in awhile. New month, new happenings.

Well the most recent news happend today. I got a new litter!

Mikey x Dancer - 4 kits ~ I'm really pleased with Dancer. She actually had 5 kits but one didn't make it at birth. But that beats her past record of 3 kits! I'm pretty excited, because if the kits turn out anything like Poker Face, they'll be really good keepers.

I'm having mixed emotions about what to do with my rabbits. The summer months are simply too hot and we'll be traveling in June which makes it harder. I don't want heat strokes like last summer... I'm seriously considering cutting back on my herd to keep my rabbits manageable. It's tough having 48 rabbits (not including the babies). I obviously don't breed in the summer because of the heat. I'm thinking hard and if I decide to reduce my herd, it will be a color group. I don't want to say much about it yet, because nothing is confirmed, but I'm leaning towards parting with my oranges... I don't like the thought of it but including babies, I have exactly 19 orange and broken oranges. If I could reduce that number at least by 10 or so that would be great. I'm still not sure yet. Then again, this is just talk. I use the blog to gather my thoughts. :)

That's all on my plate right now. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Easter :)

First, I'll start off saying Happy Easter! Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus died and paid the price for our lives so that we may live forever if we believe in Him as our Lord and Saviour. :)

The bunnies are doing great. It was such a perfect day! We've gotten so many thunderstorms and rain lately that it just makes me all the more exctied for when the sun comes back out. I have lots of juniors that I hope to keep, but I seriously doubt I'll have enough room for all of them, so I'll hopefully be able to start evaluating them soon. It's very difficult to predict how well rabbits develop when they are so young...

Also, I was able to take a few pictures of my newest additions. :) Tiki, Ironman, and Madden are all posted on the Bucks page.

Well, that's everything for now. Have a wonderful Easter and remember Jesus! Ask yourself... if you died today, would you go to Heaven or Hell???

New additions

I picked up my newest additions late last night. I gave them a day to settle in and 2 of the bucks are already bred. Ironman is bred to Harp (finally got her a man!) and Tiki is bred to Caramel. Caramel doesn't have many babies but I'm excited to see what she has. Tiki is really nice and Caramel throws really nice heads, so we'll see what happens. This should be my last round of litters before it gets too hot since I don't breed in the summer. It's a bummer because all my sable points from Absolute will be ready to breed in a few months. I don't have pictures of my new additions yet, unfortunately but I hope to snap some tomorrow. I also picked up a tort buck. :) Bondo will hopefully be useful with my sable points and torts until my juniors are ready to breed. He's on loan so he'll only be here for a limited time. I also had a litter born from Spike and CE3! It's hard to believe that she delievered all 4 babies with no issues or peanuts. It looks like CE3 has 2 blue otters and a chocolate otter. I'm not really sure what the other kit is though. It's solid white. I'm just hoping it's not a REW. I'm not working with 'em, I don't plan to, and I don't want to. Anyway, be on the look out for pictures. :) That's everything for now.

Blue Moon's kits

Wow, just look at this baby girl! She's adorable! Chole and her full brother, Drake are absolutely amazing so far. I'm SO excited to get them out onto the show tables! I'm not bad-talking Aerosmith or anything (their sable point littermate) but it's just sable points don't show well in this area. I have more competition with torts. Aerosmith and Drake might be my next herd bucks for awhile. I usually don't keep two brothers from the same litter, but in this case, Aero and Drake look too good to sell right now. I *might* decide to part with one of them if I'm not happy with how they turn out.

I also have some bad news... my cute little Blue Otter VM ("DOE") passed away. :'( She was loosing weight quickly and it was evident that she was a fader. I was SOOO upset! I finally get such an adorable little VM doe out of Tempest and she was a fader! Oh well, I guess nature takes its course...

We're supposed to have yet another storm tonight. I think this is the third major thunderstorm we've had in like 2 weeks.

That's all for now. Have a good weekend!

Pictures

Yay, I'm glad I finally got finished posting pictures to the website. Although, Weebly doesn't take as long as Webs to load, it's still a relief. The Juniors page has lots of new babies added, and so far, I'm going to keep all of them. As for the For Sale page, there are a few new pictures there as well, so feel free to take a look. Counting down the days to Nationals! I'm so excited to see my new bucks! I'm kinda bummed that I wasn't able to find a good tort buck that I like, but that's okay. I'm slowly getting more torts in the nestbox. Shortly after Nationals, a friend might let me borrow a tort buck to use for a few weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Weather & For Sale Bunnies

I saved a draft a few days ago, but I forgot to publish which put me behind on blogging. Oh well, I guess. I have lots of juniors that are for sale. I know everyone wants to see pictures, so I'm trying to make it my goal for the weekend. Speaking of weekends - boy, is it ever nice outside! It's going to be in the high 80's this weekend! 85 degrees on Saturday and 87 on Sunday. The rest of the week should be in the 70's which is still beautiful weather. Moving on, I was looking at the blue otter VM kit this afternoon. Last time I looked, I couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe. This time, I *think* it's a doe. It's still hard to tell, but I will DEFINITELY be keeping it if it's a doe! I'm so excited! This means I need to be on the lookout for a BEW buck though. I've made myself a goal (well, it's not really a goal, it's a must) to clean the barn out tomorrow morning. It will be a nice day plus I have visitors coming later that afternoon. That's all for now.

Juniors

I can't stop thinking about my juniors! I'm not trying to be boastful, but gosh, I remember I set my goals when I started raising rabbits. They were:

1. Focus on quality.

2. Win a leg.

3. Win a leg with a home-bred rabbit.

Numbers 2 and 3 I did with the same rabbit! I still can't believe it because my goals are already accomplished. But I obviously still have lots of room for improvement as far as quality which is why I'm so excited for these juniors. They should be really good which is why I'm scared to sell them. I have a hard time evaluating youngsters and I like to wait until they are at least 3 months so you can really tell what they are going to look like. It's hard. So I guess we'll see what happens. :)

Litters & Website

I was so annoyed with my website because, for some reason, I could no longer upload pictures so it was basically useless. So I went for it. You guessed it, I made a new website. Now I'm using Weebly as a host instead of Webs and so far it's working out better. I hope you enjoy the website. ;) A few things have changed (Contact Us and Links page) but for the most part nothing is really new. I had several babies born since the last blog though, so take a look at the Nestbox page for new litters. That's everything for now. Feel free to shoot me an email and let me know what you think about the new website. :) I have a few more litters on the way, so I'll keep you informed.

Upcoming juniors

Okay... I have lots of babies... 25 total in the barn right now... I really need to get them moving for when the 8 week mark comes around.

I just posted a seal buck named Homerun on my For Sale page. Homerun is too young to say much about. He looks nice so far though. He seems like he will be nice because he has very good lines. Homerun will be ready to leave his mother around April 11th. If you are interested in him, I can send you a few pictures, but I can't seem to get any on the website right now.

I just had another litter born this morning... :)

Mikey x Blue Moon ~ 2 black torts and 1 sable point - Blue Moon is the mother to Evana, (who now has 3 legs) so I'm anxious to see how this litter develops. I'm thinking about holding onto them for showing. :)

That's everything for now!

*Smile*

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" - Philippians 4:4

I know this blog was kinda intended for talking about rabbits, but I would like to elaborate on this verse a little bit....

When you turn on the TV to watch an old classic movie, what do you see? You see smiling faces and joyfulness in just about everyone. Nowadays, if you smile at someone, you will be ignored or simply won't get a smile in return.

I strongly believe that this happened as America got more and more 'spoiled'. People now don't appreciate the things they have like they did a few centuries ago. For example, when you go out to buy yourself something new, after a few days its history before we want something else again. Isn't that always the case? I'll admit, I'm like that most of the time, too. Back in the 1800's, people (mainly kids) were grateful that they could have a piece of candy, on Christmas, that cost 10 cents, because they never got it. They learned to appreciate it and were very happy to receive it.

My main point today was to try to get people (including myself) to smile and be happy more often. You may be having an awful day, but don't show it. Instead, smile. Encourage others to be happy and smile, too. You might just be the one that brightens up someone else's bad day. *Smile* :)

Greensboro show

Well, after really giving it some thought, we've decided not to go to the Greensboro show. I need to save some extra cash for the rabbits I'm having transported to and from the Nationals. I'm getting some really nice little bucks that I can't wait for. I'll go ahead and be a snitch... :)

Siamese Sable senior buck ~ 2 legs - I'm especially excited for this boy, because he should be a major improvement to my shaded herd. For starters, I can finally breed someone my sable point doe, Harp. She's the full sister to Mikey, so I can't breed them together. My intention was to have another buck ready to breed to her when I bought her, but it didn't work out that way. So now Harp is 11 months old and has never had kits before.... :(

Broken Black senior buck ~ 1 leg - This buck never got used or shown much by his owner, so I'm really eager to bring this guy home. :) He will hopefully replace Spike.

Sable Point junior buck ~ This little dude is only 8 weeks old right now. By the time the Nationals arrive, he will hopefully start to fill out nicely like the other 2 seem to be. I have big plans for him, too!

That's everything for now. Good luck to everyone that will be attending the Greensboro show!

Satisfaction

Okay, I'm satisfied. It didn't take too long. Here's a wrap of the few litters I've recently had.

Mikey x Pink Ice - 3 kits! No peanuts... none dead. I'm not sure if they are going to be himis or sable points or what. But I have a good feeling that Pink Ice will be a great producer just like her mother. Aquene had 3 babies in her first litter as well. No peanuts. None dead. Either. :)

Red Hot x Citrus - I was really worried about this litter at first. I didn't think Citrus was feeding her babies, but I took a big risk and held out for a few days and I think they are doing fine. Now, she has 2 healthy kits. Citrus actually had 4 (wow!) but 2 were dead at birth.

Tang x Sunkist - She had 1 dead kit this morning. The peculiar part was it was a huge baby! I'm just glad she passed it. I might rebreed her again before she goes.

As for the other litters, they are doing great! Comet is down to one kit though... the other one didn't make it for whatever reason.

More later.

Getting off to a bad start

So it's a new month and so far it's not going that great. First of all, I had 2 litters that didn't make it.

Mikey x Nell aka "Nelly" - I didn't hope for much since this was Nelly's first time. She had one dead kit yesterday. Which isn't a problem... since it was her first time like I just said. So, I'm going to rebreed her soon. Better luck next time!

Tang x Mango - Here's the aggravating part. Mango had 3 kits (one peanut) on March 1st. I was thrilled for her because she was a first time mom so that's great, right? It's not so great when the mother doesn't feed her babies though. I really regret not paying close enough attention. So needless to say, all of her kits passed away. I guess I know for next time.

That's everything for now. Also, I won't be able to make it to Dalton this weekend. I just thought I'd throw that out there... :)

Another litter

I had one more litter that was born yesterday. :)

Mikey x Aquene - 3 kits born last night! She actually had 4 but one didn't make it. I'm still thrilled because they all should be sable points. ;)

This is the first time I've had so many sable points in the nestboxes at once. I have 7 sable points between 2 litters. Wow! Like I mentioned in the last blog, Melody's kit looks like a Siamese sable. After thinking about it a little bit harder, it might actually be a seal. I hope not though. I'd much rather have a Siamese sable. I'm bound to find out sooner or later though. Its eyes just opened a couple days ago. :) How cute!

I'll keep you posted as the week goes on. Mango and Sunkist are due soon as well. Sunkist is starting to nest but Mango isn't doing much of anything. We'll see what happens!

Nuthin' much

There really isn't anything new to ramble about this time. I just figured since I haven't blogged lately I might as well find something to ramble about. ;)

I think I forgot to mention that Pam had babies. I was so thrilled I can't believe I'm just now blogging about it. She had 4 sable points in her first litter - no peanuts, no problems. They're all healthy and doing great! I was totally shocked because she is a tiny doe - I'm guessing around 2.00 lbs or so and I would have never expected her to have 4 kits! I haven't had any babies lately let alone sable points, so I plan to keep all of them (both bucks and does) for further evaluation. :)

As for Melody's baby, it's doing just fine. :) At first, I thought it was going to be a sable point but now I'm almost certain that it's a Siamese sable. Which is good - I'm not too bummed (even though I would have much rather had a sable point) but, hey, you can't have everything. I don't have any breedable Siamese sables, so if the kit is a doe, I'll probably end up keeping her. On the other hand, if it's a buck, I'll just have to hold onto him to see how well he develops. I'm kinda picky about my bucks as most of you already know... :)

I have a few more litters that are due either this weekend or early next week. Aquene is one of them so I'll be blogging when she has babies. :)

Litters!

This is the very first litter I've had in a long time. Since November I think. Mel (we call her "Melody") kindled on Valentine's Day! To my surprise, she had 2 live kits. It doesn't sound like a lot, but if you haven't had any kits in 3 months and your does aren't taking, it tends to be unexpected. Although, she did feel pregnant but I couldn't tell for sure. One is a peanut and the other is big and healthy. I'm not really sure what it is though. It's not a black so it might be a sable point or tort. Hopefully anyways. :)

Pam is due on the 19th. I'm just about certain she's bred. Her belly is almost touching the cage! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she won't have a hard time or have stillborns, because she's a first-timer, too.

I realized that I haven't blogged in forever! I'm so sorry! I went to the doctor yesterday because I wasn't feeling good and it turns out I have a sinus infection. Just what I want. I feel horrible! It's been running through the family so it has to be something blooming in the air that we don't like. Speaking of air, we are having beautiful weather! Spring must be coming for sure!

That's everything for now.

Spartanburg show

Boy, are we tired out. After a long day of showing, it's good to come home and relax. We probably live the closest to the show yet we were the latest to arrive! Lol. I got up at about 10 to 7 this morning and we got home around 4:00pm.

Here are my show results.

RD's Red Hot (RH) placed 1st, Dow's Zip (ZP) placed 2nd, and Peachtree's Tang (TG) placed 3rd out of only 4 oranges. MB's Tempest (TM) was placed 2nd in his class as well. As for Peachtree's Evana, she won 3 legs! Overall, we had a great time and I'm proud of my rabbits. I just wish there could have been more rabbits in each class to make it more of a competition. Anyway, congratulations to all the winners and better luck next time!

As of yesterday, Sunsation is bred to Red Hot, and Mango is bred to Tang. I'll be breeding more soon, though!

Getting Ready

So today is Friday which means the Spartanburg show is tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to showing my rabbits. :) I don't go to shows too often, unfortunately.

I'm still trying to get my does bred in time for Easter. As of yesterday, I bred Mikey to Aquene. After that was Spike to my black otter doe, Peanut Butter. This litter won't be born at my rabbitry since Peanut Butter is sold. Instead, it will be born at Son Rose Rabbitry. I will be delivering her at the Spartanburg show tomorrow pre-bred.

That's all for now. It's time to get all the rabbits ready. :) Good luck to everyone who will be at the show tomorrow!

Website changes

I thought it was time for a website remodel. Why not? After all, it's a new year and a new look on the website. :)

Feel free to take a look around the site. Nothing really "changed" except for the template and the background. Hope you like it!

Nothing is new in the nestboxes though. The Spike to Buttons breeding missed so I rebred her yesterday. I wasn't too disappointed, because that was to be expected since she is a first time mom. I hope she took this time though. I'm super excited to get some babies from Spike! He currently has about 4 does bred so far, so all we have to do now is see what happens. It's pretty funny - all of the does that are bred right now are first-timers. I'm going to really try to crack down on breeding the weekend of the Spartanburg show (which is next weekend). I'm delivering a few rabbits that will clear some babies out. Once the babies are gone, I can rebreed the mothers.

Well, it turns out that I won't be bringing in a new Siamese Sable buck. The seller couldn't find a way to get him to Spartanburg. Oh well... at least I'm still getting the 2 bucks that I'm trading next weekend. I'm really excited for those. It's always fun to bring in new bunnies. :)

That's it for this weekend. Hope you enjoy the new look on my website!

Easter breedings

Within the next few weeks, I really need to buckle down and get to breeding. The Tractor Supply in Anderson, SC is calling for 50 rabbits between now and Easter! Luckily, I'm not the only breeder participating and I don't have to come up with 50 rabbits by then. That doesn't seem possible to me... I've never had 20 rabbits for sale at once let alone 50! So like I said, I'm glad I'm not doing this by myself. :)

If I breed my does this week, their kits will be born in March and will be about 10 weeks (almost 11 wks) old by the time Easter comes around. So I've jumped ahead and started breeding since you know how unpredictable does can be - some simply do not want to be bred!

I will be bringing in a few bucks from a friend at the Spartanburg show this month. We are just going to do a swap so they won't be here to stay. I am also bringing in a buck that will be here to stay. He is a Siamese Sable buck that's about a year old so I'm hoping I can start breeding him right away. :)

Also, people have been emailing me and telling me that my website is down. Not sure why because it's coming up on my computer... I just updated it to clarify that nothing is wrong but people have still been saying it's down. Hopefully it will come back soon! Sorry about that!

Snow!?

The weather forecast says we're getting snow tonight. I really hate to be outside in the snow, but it's so beautiful to watch from inside where it's nice and warm. :) Schools are closed, too, which is a huge bonus!

Nothing much is new as you can tell because I haven't blogged lately. I've added a few junior does to the Juniors page. Only Alana and Evana so far. I have more to add which I'm hoping to do soon. Let's see.... I have 3 of Blue Moon's kits which are all does. Alana is the sable point doe and Evana is the tort doe. I still need to add the other sable point doe out of Blue Moon though. Can you believe it!? 3 does and I'm keeping all of em'! And I also have the sable point doe out of Aquene to add. Quite a few juniors that I'm anxious for. :)

That's about it for now. Keep warm in the snow tonight! 4-7 inches are expected!

Cages for sale

How cool is 1/1/11!? It will be even cooler when it's 11/11/11. Sorry I haven't blogged in a long time. December was a big month. Got the newly remodeled barn set up, went on vacation for almost a week, Christmas, and then the new year. It doesn't sound like a lot but it sure seemed like it.

I have quite a few bunnies still available. Everyone wants babies! Don't forget about the seniors that need loving homes, too! So if you're interested in any bunnies on the For Sale page or Nestbox, don't hesitate to email me. I also have a few cages that I'm going to sell. I rarely sell cages because I always need them but since we remodeled the barn, the cages listed below don't fit very well. With that being said, I'm going to buy cages that do fit and sell these. If you're interested, let me know. :)

1 - 30" x 36" Havahart cage - asking $35: I'm not certain on the measurements but they should be right. It's a real big cage. It didn't come with a pan so I'm only asking $35. I think I paid around $42.99 for it new. Overall it's in good condition. It's rusty in a few spots though. No water bottles or feeders included.

1 - 5 hole cage, about 10 feet long - $120: VERY nice cage. I purchased it from a local breeder when they sold out of rabbits. The individual hole sizes are enormous! And there's 5 holes so plenty of room for moms with big litters. Not exact on each size though. The wire is smaller so rabbits can't bite through the cage and babies can't escape. Only bad part is there are holes cut out at the opening of each cage for those big metal feeders. I don't have them so I just block the holes off. Overall excellent cage! No water bottles or feeders included.
